Experienced Glazing Estimator in Mississauga

NORAM’s Glazing Estimator position is located at our Mississauga location: 1325 Aimco Blvd., Mississauga ON.

This position is responsible for the preparation of material and quantity take-offs from architectural drawings, as well as preparing product breakdowns for costing and all costs associated with tendered estimates.

The Glazing Estimator is responsible for:

  • The analysis and identification of risks and opportunities presented by tender.
  • Calculation of expenses related to costs and input into proposed margins.
  • Using established procedures for estimating and tendering complete estimates.
  • Overseeing and monitoring support staff assistance in cost generation.
  • Providing necessary cost estimate changes due to tender modifications and revisions.

A Candidate's qualifications include:

  • A minimum 5 years estimating experience in the Glazing industry with a comprehensive understanding of project management and cost consulting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office products, as well as a full understanding of industry standard estimating software are mandatory.
  • Skills in time management and organization.
  • Strong negotiation skills and effective problem solving are considered valuable assets.

Experienced Project Manager / Within The Glazing Industry

The project manager will be responsible for the administration, supervision and management of the specific project assigned to them from commencement of the project to its completion.

Candidates will be accountable and responsible for:

  • Having a complete understanding and knowledge of the various types of glass and aluminum components
  • The co-ordination of shop drawing submittals and approvals
  • Reviewing all aspects of the order as it relates to the each project assigned to them
  • Establishing contact and maintain dialogue through the projects’ duration
  • Co-ordination of internal departmental responsibilities in order to ensure that each has been properly instructed and workflow meets expectations
  • Tracking material orders from the vendors and coordinating orders with production
  • Available at all times throughout the duration of the project including weekends and holidays
  • Attend all job site meetings
  • Ensure that approval has been provided on all additional or extra materials originally not accounted for
  • Warrant schedule of timely closeout of the project

Qualifications

  • Candidate must have a college diploma in general business administration and/or engineering technology, with a minimum five years experience within the glazing industry.
  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Advanced skills in MS Office products, as well as a full understanding of industry standard estimating software are mandatory.
  • The candidate must be capable of handling multiple projects, adhering to policies and procedures for each. At all times the candidate must maintain a positive and professional attitude.

Installer

Candidate will be responsible for the installation of aluminum and glass window, entrance and curtainwall systems, glass and glazing of all types.

Duties

  • Install aluminum entrances and doors
  • Install aluminum windows
  • Install aluminum curtainwall (conventional and unitized)
  • Install all glazing components including back pans, sealed units, and aluminum panels
  • Install mirrors, interior partition glazing and glass to hollow metal frames
  • Use and maintain safety and access equipment
